Building Independence with Support and Freedom
Independent Living
Our Independent Living program provides young adults with the tools, support, and opportunities they need to transition into adulthood successfully. By combining structured guidance with plenty of freedom, we help participants build the skills and confidence needed to thrive independently.
Private Spaces with Supervised Support
Participants live in private rooms with their own bathrooms, offering comfort and independence. While they enjoy plenty of freedom, they also benefit from guidance and oversight by a supportive staff member. This balance of autonomy and accountability helps young adults grow into responsible and capable individuals.
What We Provide
- Supportive Housing: Fully furnished, rent-free housing with utilities and internet included.
- Life Skills Training: Hands-on lessons in budgeting, cooking, time management, and more.
- Employment and Education Assistance: Help finding jobs, creating resumes, and pursuing educational goals.
- Community Resources: Access to on-campus amenities, including a grocery room, basketball courts, walking trails, and a movie library.
- Guidance and Mentorship: Staff members are available to offer advice and support as participants work toward their goals.
- Personal Growth: Opportunities to set and achieve goals that promote financial stability, career readiness, and emotional well-being.
Pathway to Greater Independence
As participants demonstrate responsibility, maturity, and readiness for more freedom, they may transition to living in one of our tiny homes on campus.
Living in a Tiny Home
- More Freedom: Tiny homes provide a greater sense of independence while still offering access to the supportive Hope Harbor community.
- Solo Responsibility: Participants are responsible for managing their own household, including cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
- Preparation for the Future: This step bridges the gap between supervised living and complete independence, helping young adults gain the confidence and skills they need to live on their own.
Eligibility
Our program is open to young adults transitioning out of foster care, group care, or other settings where additional support is needed. Applicants should be committed to personal growth, demonstrate a willingness to learn, and show respect for the guidelines of the program.
