Hope Harbor FAQ
We understand you may have many questions about Hope Harbor and the exciting new direction we’re taking. To help provide clarity and keep you informed, we’ve created this FAQ page to address some of the most common questions about our mission, programs, and future plans. We’re here to share how we’re continuing to make a difference for children, teens, and families in need.
Why did Hope Harbor make the switch to foster care and independent living programs?
We made the switch to utilize our resources to the best of our ability. This transition allows us to support more children and families by providing foster care housing on campus and assisting foster parents throughout Oklahoma.
The need for independent living programs is critical in Oklahoma. In foster care alone, an average of 200 young people age out of the system each year—and this doesn’t include teens aging out of group homes or other situations that often lead to homelessness. By expanding our mission, we can help bridge this gap and provide the resources and support young adults need to transition successfully to the next stage of their lives.
Are there still children on campus?
We are in the process of finding foster families to live on campus and provide loving homes for children. If you know someone or are someone interested in fostering, we would love to hear from you.
Will you still be caring for kids?
Yes! We are supporting foster families and the children they welcome into their homes. In addition, we are helping teens who are aging out of foster care, group care, or similar situations transition successfully to the next stage of their lives through our Independent Living program.
Can I get involved with Hope Harbor in ways other than financially?
Yes! Volunteers are a vital part of our mission. You can help with activities, events, campus projects, or by spreading the word about our programs. Your involvement makes a real difference.
How is Hope Harbor funded?
We rely on donations from individuals, churches, and organizations, as well as grants and partnerships. Your support helps us provide housing, programs, and resources for children and families.
Does Hope Harbor still have a school?
No, we no longer operate an on-campus school. Foster children on campus attend public or private schools in the community, while young adults in our Independent Living program pursue education or career training.
How can I support the mission of Hope Harbor?
You can support us by donating, volunteering, or sharing our mission with others. Whether financially or through your time and talents, your involvement helps us create brighter futures for children and families.
Are the independent living participants part of campus life?
Yes, young adults in our Independent Living program live on campus and participate in our supportive community. They’re gaining the skills and confidence to transition successfully into adulthood.
